🍁 Why I Brought Home the Maple Child
(aka: I went out for herbs and somehow came home with a free tree)
So… a few people have noticed the tiny twig that suddenly appeared on my apothecary page and asked, very reasonably, “Why is there a maple tree here?”
Let me explain.
I went out for herbs.
Just herbs.
A simple, innocent mission to expand the apothecary.
And then the cashier said the magic words:
“By the way, you get a free tree with your purchase.”
A free tree.
Not a succulent.
Not a seed packet.
A whole tree.
They handed me a 12–14 inch maple sapling with dry roots, no branches, and the energy of a creature who has seen things.
And my brain immediately went:
“Well… now she lives with me.”
So yes — I went out for oregano and basil and came home with a maple child. This is my life now.
But here’s the part that actually matters:
✨️In folk magic and herbal tradition, maple isn’t just a tree. She’s a symbol.
Maple represents:
- balance
- clarity
- sweetness
- protection
- grounding
- transformation
Even as a tiny twig, she carries all of that.
She’s a reminder that growth starts small.
That roots matter.
That sweetness takes time.
That transformation begins long before the leaves appear.
That even the simplest beginnings can hold powerful magic.
So yes… she belongs here.
She’s part of the apothecary now.
And one day, when she’s tall and full and ready, she’ll stand as the guardian of the greenhouse I’m manifesting.
For now, she’s just a little twig with big symbolism — and I’m honored to be part of her story.
