Plant Spotlight: Peggy Martin Rose ✨

Known as the “Hurricane Katrina Rose,” the Peggy Martin Rose is a Louisiana favorite loved for its incredible resilience and cascading pink blooms. This fast-growing climbing rose thrives in our hot, humid climate and puts on a stunning show each spring with waves of vibrant color.

In Louisiana zones, it is especially valued for being low-maintenance, nearly thornless, and highly disease resistant once established. Perfect for fences, arbors, trellises, and adding that soft Southern charm to any landscape.

The last picture is the actual Peggy Martin rose bush, the very one that survived being submerged under 20 feet of saltwater for weeks following Hurricane Katrina. After Peggy Martin lost nearly everything, this rose was one of the only living plants left standing in her garden. It was later named in her honor and has since become one of the most beloved and widely planted roses in the South.

It is a living testament to the kind of resilience Louisiana is known for. We are proud to plant a piece of that history.
