🚿🔧 Another day, another “well that’s not supposed to do that” moment brought to you by the wonderful world of plumbing. 😅

🐪🔧 HAPPY HUMP DAY from SMJ Plumbing!

We officially made it halfway through the week… and honestly, some of these plumbing systems are hanging on by a thread too. 😅

Somewhere out there right now:
🚽 A toilet is fighting for its life
🌧️ A drain is bubbling suspiciously
🔥 A water heater is making “expensive noises”
🌳 Tree roots are plotting against another sewer line

Meanwhile, the SMJ crew is fueled by coffee, stubbornness, and the phrase:
👉 “Well… that ain’t good.” 😂

🌳🚽 Roots were trying REAL hard to become permanent tenants in this sewer line. 😅

SMJ Plumbing was called out for a collapsed sewer line with heavy root intrusion serving two units. The issue was located approximately 3-6 feet from the manhole, and let’s just say… the roots were winning. 🌱💪

After locating the issue with our sewer camera, the crew dug down about 3.5 feet and found the first problem:
👉 A thin-wall PVC 45° elbow had split open and roots had completely invaded the line.

Then, because plumbing likes to keep things interesting, we dug deeper — about 5 feet near the manhole basin — and found ANOTHER split 45° fitting with the same issue. 😬

So we got to work:
✔️ Cut out all damaged piping
✔️ Replaced the failed sections from the basin upward
✔️ Installed durable Schedule 40 PVC
✔️ Added a new cleanout on a wye for easier future servicing
✔️ Installed a cleanout box so it can actually be found later without playing “guess where the sewer is” 😂
✔️ Re-inspected the line with a camera after repairs

Good news: after repairs, the line was flowing properly and the camera inspection showed no additional issues. 🎥💧

This is exactly why sewer camera inspections matter. A small drainage issue underground can quickly turn into collapsed pipe, root intrusion, and major backups if ignored too long.
