Winter is Coming! Starting Friday Jan 23rd temperatures will drop below freezing and be near or below freezing for several days. These periods are when water lines have the highest chance of freezing. In many cases the water lines don’t freeze until the second or third day that temperatures remain below freezing. So be prepared! Keep cabinet doors for sinks on exterior walls open to allow better air circulation. Disconnect outside hose pipes from exterior faucets. Drip faucets on exterior walls. Know where your main water shut-off valve is located.

Tuesday night temperatures will drop bellow freezing and not return for days. These are the conditions that we see the most frozen pipes. To help avoid frozen pipes, open cabinet doors under your sinks to allow warm air in, and drip/trickle faucets (both hot and cold sides). Know where your main water shut off valve is located in case of an emergency. Don't assume that your pipes wont freeze because they haven't frozen in the past.

How much water pressure is too much? International Plumbing Codes requires a pressure reducing valve (PRV) to be installed on any water system with over 80psi.

Most places in Rutherford County have well over this amount of pressure. After installing a PRV, we recommend setting the pressure between 65 - 70psi for a good balance between protecting your plumbing and still having good pressure.

We recommend checking your water pressure yearly, and installing or replacing your PRV if the pressure exceeds the maximum output pressure of the valve.

With much sorrow we announce the passing of Ted Sadler. He was a treasured member of the Plumbing Trade. He was a teacher and mentor to many of the area's finest plumbers. And above all, a life long devoted servant to God.

Teddy Lynn Ted Sadler, age 67 of Murfreesboro died Sunday February 4, 2024. He was a native of Cannon County and was preceded in death by his father, William Doyle Sadler. Mr. Sadler was the owner and operator of Sadler Brothers Plumbing Inc. and attended World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro.

With temperatures staying below freezing until this Thursday, take precautions to prevent frozen pipes.

*Makes sure all garden hoses are removed from outside faucets
*Drip faucets that are installed on exterior walls
*Open cabinet doors to sinks on exterior walls
*Ensure that heat cables are plugged in and working

Just because you have never had pipes freeze in the past does not mean that they wont freeze.
