This is very last minute, but if you can make it to this meeting you should!
Again, please don’t think if you don’t live in this area it won’t affect you. Flathead Lake is one of our prized possessions in the valley and should be protected!
Lakeside County Water and Sewer board meeting today at 2pm in the building behind their main office...253 Bierney Creek Rd. They have on their agenda to sign agreements to take over the septage receiving facility from Flathead County. We feel that they should wait until they know they will have the capacity before signing documents to transfer $20 million plus dollars in federal grants.
DEQ has issued 2 letters of deficiency to Lakeside with concerns that their plan for Rapid Infiltration basins for groundwater discharge will negatively impact connected surface waters. We feel that this is not the right area to concentrate the entire county's waste, in very shallow groundwater with connected surface waters, one mile north of Flathead Lake.
