A Little Piece of History Behind the Wallpaper
Today, while removing wallpaper in a customer’s home, we uncovered something pretty special: the signature of the original wallpaper installer, dated 1971.
For those who don’t know, professional paperhangers have a long-standing tradition of signing and dating their work. More than 50 years later, we uncovered the name of the craftsman who stood in that same room and hung that paper.
What makes the story even better is that his family’s company has been in business since 1929, and we are still in contact with his grandson, shown in the picture.
When Sinn Painting started in 1992, companies like theirs were the giants of our local trade. They had already built reputations that stretched across generations. They were the companies we looked up to and thought, “That’s what we want to become someday.”
More than 34 years later, we still try to follow the same business principles and work ethic taught by the giants who came before us. People like Don Price and Ron Halteman, second-generation business owners who understood that your name, your reputation, and the quality of your work meant something.
Times change. Products change. Businesses change hands from one generation to the next.
But good craftsmanship and a good name never go out of style.
And yes, when we hang wallpaper today, we still sign our work.
Maybe someone will find our name behind a piece of wallpaper 50 years from now.
