Today is one of the hardest posts I have ever had to write.
In 2023, I sat in a NIMBA Group meeting listening to a presentation about supplier diversity and small business opportunities. The speaker was Remo Mezzetta.
That day, Remo cast a vision so much bigger than anything I could see for myself. A vision that honestly felt beyond my ability to believe. But I was all in.
Because of that presentation, I began pushing Indiana’s Elite Services in the direction of large-scale commercial construction projects. What followed were obstacles, setbacks, uncertainty, and countless moments where I didn’t know what to do next.
When I needed guidance, I reached back out to the man who planted the seed.
And he watered it.
Remo wasn’t someone who simply talked about helping small businesses. He genuinely wanted to create opportunities and make an impact. He answered calls, opened doors, shared wisdom, provided accountability, and believed in people long before they believed in themselves.
Many people have supported Indiana’s Elite Services through our growth journey. I am grateful for every one of them. But when it came to authentic, large-scale revenue opportunities—when it came time to trust us with projects that could truly change the trajectory of our company—Remo was the first person willing to say “yes.”
What started as a janitorial company has evolved into a General Contractor performing large-scale commercial and institutional construction projects.
That transformation did not happen by accident.
Remo taught me.
He coached me.
He mentored me.
He celebrated my victories.
He corrected me when I needed it.
He challenged me to grow.
He helped me build a legacy for my family.
Alongside Remo, Charles Garcia Sr. has demonstrated what true leadership and mentorship look like. Today, the partnership between C. Garcia Associates, FOSO Construction, and Indiana’s Elite Services represents more than business. It represents a shared commitment to developing future leaders and creating opportunities for others.
Recently, someone shared a quote with me:
“There is a man behind you, beside you, and ahead of you. The man behind you is who you’re leading. The man beside you is who you’re journeying through life with. The man ahead of you is who you aspire to become.”
For me, that man ahead was Remo Mezzetta.
I want to spend my life doing for others what he did for me—lifting contractors to new heights and helping entrepreneurs fulfill dreams they never thought possible.
Last night, we launched our third year of construction projects.
This morning, Remo lost his battle with cancer.
I believe he held on long enough to see us through one more milestone before letting go.
The last words he spoke to me were:
“You did a great job, Alejandro.”
I may have put in the work, but you opened the door.
As the gates of Heaven opened for you today, know that your impact lives on through every contractor you mentored, every opportunity you created, and every life you changed.
Thank you, my friend.
Thank you, mentor.
Thank you, partner.
Joint Venture Partners for Life.
Rest in Peace, Remo Mezzetta.
