Yeoman Design Build is a full-scale residential construction and remodeling company. The mission of Yeoman Design Build is to bring better options to the table for building and improving the homes of Western Massachusetts and Southern Vermont. We believe in the use of local natural materials, and a blend of traditional and modern techniques. While our projects range from unique natural buildings,

to more conventional remodels and repairs, every project goes through a careful process of design, materials selection, and planning. The results are structures and spaces with better indoor air-quality, improved building performance, higher standards of craftsmanship, and an unmatched aesthetic beauty.

Taking shape in Deerfield, MA 🏡

This two-story addition is being built to help the homeowners stay in the home they love while making it better suited to their changing needs. The new space will include a primary bedroom, primary bathroom, and ample storage, adding comfort, function, and flexibility for the years ahead.

Projects like this are a reminder that thoughtful design isn’t always about starting over. Sometimes it’s about building onto what already feels like home.

Recent progress on our Shelburne ADU. 🏡🌿

This 400-square-foot standalone building was designed to support future on-site caregiving, creating a space that’s compact, comfortable, and deeply intentional. Starting from a design the client found online, we customized it to fit their needs while focusing on energy efficiency, performance, and natural materials.

The exterior is now complete, featuring local siding and lumber, Sierra Pacific windows, and TimberHP wood fiber insulation, a bio-based material made in Maine that offers a natural alternative to foam board. Combined with cellulose insulation, local hardwood cherry trim, and its own independent systems, this ADU is built to be both practical and high-performing for years to come.

On Saturday, September 12 & Sunday, September 13, 2026, Mike will be leading an intensive introduction to natural building systems for anyone interested in healthier, more sustainable ways to build.

This workshop is a great fit for both professionals and DIYers, and will cover the fundamentals of straw-bale construction, straw-clay construction, and earthen plasters. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to build on your skills, this course offers a hands-on primer in bio-based building methods (with time to ask questions about your own projects too).
