When was the last time you actually looked at where your downspouts end?
Most homeowners know their gutters need to be cleaned or replaced, especially this time of year with all the leaves falling. But something that gets overlooked is where all that rainwater goes once it leaves the gutter.
Here's something worth knowing. Even if your gutters are completely clear and working properly, you can still have drainage problems if your downspouts are dumping water right next to your foundation.
Over time, that water can wash away soil, create moisture problems around your foundation, and leave you dealing with issues that could have been prevented.
Next time it rains, take a walk around your house and pay attention to where the water is going. Is it flowing away from your home, or is it collecting right alongside it?
It's a small thing to check, but it can make a big difference.
At Purple Cow Roofing, we help homeowners with gutter inspections, repairs, and replacements. If something doesn't look right, we're happy to take a look.
