Garden philosophy

I've been puttering around outside and in gardens for over 40 years which makes me sound really old, but I started early! I fell in love with the scent of gardenias blooming in February at my first job in a greenhouse in 1973. I picked my destiny when I decided that a day wasted inside was a day wasted. From there, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in horticulture. After graduation, I worked in variou

s fields, so to speak, including a stint as the program coordinator for the Master Gardening program at URI and a temporary County Extension Agent. Moving to California in the mid- 80's, I started a garden design business after taking a course in England from John Brookes.
