September is National Honey Month, so we’re chatting with local beekeeper Nick Bofill to learn all the sticky details about this nutritious nectar.

When removing live honey bees, people always ask what we do with them. We’re proud to say we safely remove and relocate the bees back into natural areas off the Miami Dade Highway systems.

Our process includes: removing the honey bees, putting it into a beekeepers NUC, transport them to our natural area, and then requeen the hive.

Requeening the hive is important to control honey bee genetics and ensure they don’t become a threat to our community or other beekeepers. This also helps pollinate important Florida natural areas, home to many endangered plants only found in these areas!

Today’s bee rescue was done on the beautiful island of where we came in and saved another hive. It’s an amazing feeling knowing places like Fisher Island really care about saving bees. By the way, the BEST honey was pulled, extracted and bottled for the people on the island. I call it the most expensive RAW honey I have 😜 thank you again
