Plenty hungry wildlife are eager to devour vegetable gardens in the Hamptons. Here are four must-haves for keeping them out of your vegetable garden.
1. Raised beds, typically 24 to 36 inches tall, deter rabbits (the height discourages them) plus are easier for humans to w**d and harvest.
2. Lining the interior of the raised bed boxes with a metal mesh fabric helps keep out voles and moles that try to dig under the wood box structures. Alternatively, fencing can be extended a few feet into the ground to prevent burrowing pests from entering beneath the structure.
3. Deer fencing around your garden or yard is essential to protect your crops.
4. Bird netting keeps juicy tomatoes, berries, and other delicate crops safe from our feathered friends.
There are artful options for the visible structures needed to keep your garden safe, and nearly invisible fencing and netting, so your garden can be protected, beautiful and elegant.
