Questions to consider before purchasing a backyard shed!
1. Will it fit?? Buildings are delivered completely assembled so we need plenty of clearance to bring onto your property. A 12ft wide building will not fit through a 10ft wide gate, so please measure your situation before coming in. Measurements matter. Common obstacles are fences, trees, AC units, and houses being too close together. Also look up, as tree branches and roof eaves can also be obstacles. SOS can professionally take down wood or chain link fences and reinstall for a fee.
2. Do you live in a Homeowner’s Association? If so, please check your rules for having a shed. There could be limitations on what you are allowed to have.
3. Is a permit required from the city/county where you live? The answer to this is generally yes. Please check with your city/county. Rules vary between locations and are up to you as the homeowner to follow.
4. Standard delivery for buildings is on a truck and trailer. Meaning it needs to be able to pull or back into your yard, set the building down and be able to pull out from under it. We do set the building on solid concrete blocks to level the building. If the building needs to be turned or maneuvered in the yard, we will need to use the mule device. It is a small forklift-type machine that will lift one end of the shed and we will put wheels under the other end to pivot the building where it is needed. There is a small fee for this additional labor, if needed.
5. Your ground does not need to be perfectly level but you will have a better situation the more level the spot is. We will use blocks to level the building but we do not level the ground itself.
6. Can I have the building moved at a later time? Yes. SOS offers local moving services for portable buildings. Fees apply based on the size of the building and how far it is being moved.
Being a prepared consumer helps SOS serve you better and makes for a smoother purchase process. We look forward to working on your behalf!
