Not every job site comes with ocean views and postcard scenery.

Sometimes, it’s a hardworking mechanical room like this with larger-scale washer and dryer equipment we recently wired that's quietly keeping things moving behind the scenes.

While there’s no shortage of beauty here on MDI and throughout the region, the backbone of the services our visitors rely on often requires steady maintenance, timely repairs, and a little behind-the-scenes grit. We’re proud to play a small role in supporting the businesses, properties, and people who help keep the island running.

A quick note of appreciation to all the caretakers, property managers, restaurant staff, retail staff, guides, hospitality teams, and service providers preparing for the season ahead. Wishing you all a healthy, smooth, and robust season to come.

Turns out… we’ve been doing a lot of lighting upgrades lately.

This pile in the truck? Over 400 feet of old fluorescent bulbs we’ve removed and responsibly recycled from recent residential and commercial projects.

Out with the flicker, the buzz, and the high energy bills—
In with clean, efficient, modern LED lighting.

Hey! That's us. Though we're a bit disappointed that we couldn't play on the machine, too, (something about electricians should stick to what they're good at), we are happy that we could help this customer in a pinch and restore their power the same day they called.

Thanks Cambers Woods & Earthworks for dropping everything and helping us out. Nice work navigating around that deck and ramp, by the way. Now we see why you wouldn't let us use it.

It’s been a busy week for the Stanley Electric crew! ⚡

One of our recent jobs took our team members Blake and Rocky out to beautiful Frenchboro to replace a panel for a new customer. They got the work done, enjoyed the fresh island breeze, and took in some incredible views along the way.

🚨 We’ve been getting a bunch of calls about smoke alarms going off — even with no smoke in sight. 🚨Heads-up: Your smoke detector MIGHT be crying wolf — and heat or humidity could be the reason.

If yours is chirping for no good reason, especially in kitchens, bathrooms, or laundry areas, chances are heat or humidity is the real culprit.

🔥 Most older alarms use ionization sensors — super sensitive to steam and heat, not just smoke. That means hot showers and boiling pasta can set them off.

💡 Photoelectric alarms (especially dual-sensor models that include both photoelectric and heat sensors) help cut down on false alarms while keeping you protected.

Pro tips:
✔️ Wherever possible, keep alarms 10+ feet from stoves, showers, and dryers
✔️ Clean them now and then — dust and bugs can mess with sensors
✔️ Replace them every 10 years (or sooner if they’re acting up)
✔️ Swap batteries yearly — or go for a 10-year lithium model
✔️ Don’t forget carbon monoxide detectors, too
✔️ And always double-check there’s no real fire. Better safe than sorry. 🔥

If you're tired of the “phantom alarms,” it might be time for an upgrade.
