June was a busy month for the UCUS team.

Over the course of 17 days, our crews responded to 7 storm events while supporting utilities across Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Alabama. Through every mile traveled, every long day, and every challenge faced, one thing never changed—our commitment to doing the job safely.

We’re proud to finish the month with 0 safety incidents. That doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of a team that looks out for one another, follows the process, and takes pride in doing the job the right way.

Thank you to every member of the UCUS team for your hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. We also want to thank your families for their support while you’re away serving communities in need.

Happy REA Day! On May 11, 1935, President Franklin Roosevelt signed an executive order establishing the Rural Electrification Administration. A year later, Congress passed the Rural Electrification Act, and the lending program that became the REA got underway.

We’re proud of the history electric cooperatives built and inspired by how that same spirit of innovation continues today. SELCAT will begin accepting Overhead Applications on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 9:00 AM Eastern Time. Overhead Applications will remain open until Monday, January 19, 2026, at 4:30 PM Eastern Time.

**Note—Part of the application process is requesting a new account and that new account being approved by a SELCAT staff member before the application can be opened and payment processed. It is very important that anyone interested in applying for Overhead during this time, and DO NOT already have an account with SELCAT, go ahead and make that account request so that when Overhead Applications open, they are already set up and ready to pay the application fee and begin submitting their application along with all the required documents.

Substation and Underground Applications will remain open.
