Last week’s little quickie up in Wahpeton!

This week has been full of cleaning lines, running cameras, and getting next week’s dig jobs lined up. And rain. Gotta love the rain.

We’re grateful to be in a business that’s always going to be needed. No matter what the economy does, people are still going to use the bathroom. 💩 Unless AI comes up with a way to change that, The Sewer Doctors will keep showing up.

We’re not landscapers, but we’ll get you fixed up. And by that, we mean what’s under the ground. The grass is between you and Mother Nature. 😅🌱

Flushable” wipes are one of the biggest causes of sewer and drain issues we see. And trust us… we hear this all the time:

“But the package says they’re flushable.”

Here’s the problem: 👇🏼

Toilet paper is designed to break down VERY quickly once it hits water. Flushable wipes are not. Even though they may technically make it through your toilet, they often stay intact as they travel through your sewer line.

That means they can:
👉🏼Catch on roots or offsets in the pipe
👉🏼Combine with grease and sludge
👉🏼Create massive clogs in sewer mains and lift stations
👉🏼Cause expensive backups and repairs

Think of it this way - “Flushable” really just means it can be flushed down the toilet… not that it’s safe for your plumbing or sewer system.

If you use wipes, we always recommend tossing them in the trash instead of flushing them. Your pipes (and wallet) will thank you later. 🚽💩

Slow drains aren’t always “just a clog.” A lot of times we find heavy buildup and calcification inside the pipes from grease, soap, hair, and other debris over time.

The longer it sits, the tighter your pipe gets. This can lead to slow drains, constant backups, and bigger sewer issues down the road.

Routine drain cleaning helps keep things flowing the way they should and can help catch problems before they turn into major repairs. Especially in older homes.

If your drains have been acting up lately, don’t ignore it. Less mess, less stress!

While this isn’t our typical business post, we wanted to touch on a subject very near and dear to our hearts.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and while we may spend our days fixing sewer and drain problems, we know life brings a whole lot of other struggles too. Some that nobody else can see. Mental health matters.

Just a reminder that you never truly know what someone is carrying behind the scenes. Be kind. Check on your people. And if you’re struggling, please know you are not alone.
