If youre curious what kind of labor is involved in a poured concrete foundation, I have some numbers that I found interesting. This foundation is a little over 2000 square feet basement and 1000 square feet of garage. We use steel ply forms that we erect one at a time and pin together. Here we carried and set roughly 12 tons of forms. Thats 24,000 pounds or equivalent to the weight of 6 mini vans. We then pour concrete into the forms. Big thank you to Samuel Struecker Bremik Pumping for placing the concrete inside the forms with precision using a state of the art concrete pump truck. The forms in this picture are holding around 200,000 lbs. Of concrete. After adding the footings to the calculation you are just under a quarter of a million pounds of concrete for this foundation. When the concrete gets hard we get to remove the 24,000 pounds of forms one at a time, stack them on pallets, put them on trailers and take them to the next job. In all we handle almost 50,000 pounds of forms to construct this foundation. I hope you found this as interesting as I did.
