Started on a new project today. 24x24 fenced garden, and will have 16x16 U shaped garden bed in the middle. I am excited to see how it turns out.

We had a fun little project today getting new beauty bark on the flower beds, and tilling some garden boxes to be ready for planting. We got rid of an unwanted small tree, filled in a couple holes the dogs had dug, and opened up a couple old growth rose bushed to allow the new growth to grow healthy.

Washburn’s Handyman Services is happy to announce that we will be offering 3d printing services. I began 3d printing a little over a year ago and took some time to tune the machines and tweak them for optimal print quality at reasonable speeds. If you locate an item you would like to print, you can let me know and we can discuss options. I will be offering printing starting at $1.75 / hr to cover the costs of filament and electricity. Some aspects that will affect print times will include print quality, material type, and size.
Print quality boils down to resolution. Like the way television definition is increased with smaller pixels, the layer height of the print can make for smoother rounded edges. Things like boxes won’t benefit too much from a smaller layer as they have a flat exterior surface, things like balls or animals, may benefit significantly from smaller layers. Smaller layers will make the layer lines less noticeable.

Basic sites that have files you can choose from include: thingiverse, Printables, and MyMinifactory. There are plenty of others out there. I have been able to print some useful things including a “wrench” to put on my propane tanks for easier propane tank swaps, a wall mount for my Nintendo switch, key holders, toilet paper holders, tool and batter holders, and much more. It is important to note that I am selling the time and materials for these prints, and not the prints themselves. My current available colors are displayed in the photos (not pictured is Magenta and glow in the dark green, which also has a clear-ish with green tint). The filaments in the box are a metallic color, and the clear-ish looking one is a glow in the dark blue. If you search 3d filament on amazon you can browse through a large selection of options. My pricing listed is for basic filaments, if a special more expensive filament is requested, pricing will reflect the cost of the filament. When the print is finished, a screenshot of the time used to print will be provided.

Happy Saturday everyone. Following these last couple of frigid days, I am seeing a number of posts where pipes have frozen or just the hot water isn't working. Many people will leave a cold water line trickling, but not a hot water line. This will only help protect half of your system if the water lines travel in locations susceptible to freezing temperatures. If you find that your hot water isn't working, and your water heater is in an unconditioned garage, or even a less than adequately conditioned space. It wouldn't hurt to try and heat that space by any means that you can. While you're doing this open a hot water line on any faucet in the home to help relieve the pressure being produced as the lines thaw out. If you have a tankless water heater, I would un plug it until there is adequate flow through the system. Once water is flowing as expected, turn off all fixtures and walk around to see if you hear any water flowing where it shouldn't be. If you were able to locate where the pipes had frozen, it wouldn't hurt to find a way to insulate those lines or that space, or even add a heat source, anything from a space heater to heat tape to prevent this issue in the future.
