Beginning in June 2015, Midwest AgEnergy Group’s Dakota Spirit AgEnergy biorefinery began producing 65 million gallons of ethanol a year from North Dakota corn, as well as dry and modified distillers grains for livestock, corn oil for biodiesel production and E85. Co-located for Efficiency

nt to Great River Energy’s Spiritwood Station near Spiritwood, ND. Spiritwood Station is a combined head and power plant designed specifically to both generate electricity and provide steam for industrial users. Instead of burning fuel to power the biorefining process, we purchase steam from Spiritwood Station. This arrangement gives Dakota Spirit AgEnergy a similar competitive advantage to Blue Flint Ethanol, making it one of the most cost-effective, energy efficient and environmentally friendly biorefineries in the country. Economic Development Impacts

The building of Dakota Spirit AgEnergy provided 275 construction and trade jobs. It is now providing stable, well-paying operating jobs as well as a new market for area corn producers. Together with the surrounding communities, we are focused on securing long-term success for our owners, employees and customers.

Yesterday, Dakota Spirit employees rolled up their sleeves and volunteered their time for a ditch clean-up around our plants and the Spiritwood community. 🌱

This week, the DSA leadership team had the pleasure of hosting a Recognition Breakfast to celebrate and thank our employees for their outstanding efforts during our Spring Shutdown.

Shutdowns require dedication, teamwork, long hours, and an unwavering commitment to safety and excellence. We are incredibly grateful for the hard work, professionalism, and teamwork demonstrated by every member of our team throughout the project.
