Sometimes a simple water heater replacement turns into something much bigger.

We arrived to replace a 20-year-old water heater that had finally reached the end of its life. During the process, Larry noticed the home's main water shutoff valve was on the verge of failure due to a broken packing nut. To prevent a bigger problem, we had the city shut off the water so the valve could be replaced.

Once the water was turned back on, an unexpected issue appeared—a pea-sized hole opened up in the main water service line right where it enters the foundation.

Older plumbing systems can sometimes reveal hidden weaknesses when repairs are made. Now we're working quickly to get this customer's water service repaired and restored.

Some days in plumbing are more eventful than others.

It is important that you flush your water heaters as directed by the manufacturer's maintenance instructions. This water heater had sediment build up above the level of the lower element. We replaced both elements and thermostat after a short caused the circuit breaker to flip. Replacing the elements will restore function but a water heater replacement is in the near future for this customer. Sediment build up this badly will cause the lower element to become insulated and it will not last as long as it should.

Today, Renn & Payton were repairing some leaks while Larry & Ricardo were finishing up rerouting a sewer line at a local convenience store.

If your faucets are running slow or low pressure it could just be a plugged aerator. This photo was of a kitchen faucet aerator in a home with old galvanized piping. This type of piping will build up scaly rust inside the pipe and it can break off into a sand-like grit that plugs your plumbing fixtures.

Renn and Payton where at this copper pipe leak repair. Not only can water leaks damage wood and drywall, it can also cause other pipes to corrode as you can see on that black metal pipe
