Spokane, our hearts are with everyone near Upriver Drive right now.
The Upriver Fire spread fast this afternoon under red flag conditions, and hundreds of our neighbors have been forced to evacuate. We are a local Spokane company, these are our streets too, and we want to make sure good information is easy to find. Here is what is being shared by officials as of this evening:
EVACUATIONS: Level 3 "go now" orders cover the area from Thierman to Argonne and Bigelow Gulch to Upriver Drive, with Level 2 zones beyond that. Confirm your address on the Spokane County Emergency Management Evacuation Map before you make any decisions.
SHELTER: The American Red Cross has an emergency shelter open at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N Raymond Rd. Millwood Community Presbyterian Church at 3223 N Marguerite Rd is also open to evacuees.
PETS: SpokAnimal is offering free boarding for animals displaced by the fire.
POWER: Avista has shut off power to parts of the area to reduce fire risk. Please stay clear of any downed power lines.
A huge thank you to the firefighters and crews from Fire District 9, the City of Spokane, Spokane Valley Fire, DNR and every agency on the ground tonight. You are protecting our community when it matters most.
If you are safe and looking for a way to help, please share this post so it reaches a neighbor who needs it. Stay safe, Spokane.
