Some great tips! πŸͺ΄

These below freezing temperatures aren't just rough on things outdoors, your indoor plants might take a hit too! πŸ₯Ά

Despite being in the safety of your home, houseplants can still be affected by the outside weather, especially when it's so cold out. Luckily, it's easy to keep your houseplants safe once you know what they need πŸͺ΄
1. Move houseplants away from windows. Glass windows are significantly colder than the rest of your home. You can tell the difference just by touching a window! Simply move your plants a couple inches away from the glass or to a spot where they can still get enough light without being near the window itself. A lot of houseplants are dormant or have slowed down their growth during winter anyway, so a few weeks of slightly less light won't hurt them in the long run.
2. Beware indoor temperature swings. It's tempting to keep your home cold during the day when you're not there and warm at night, or vice versa for sleeping, but big temperature shifts are often stressful for houseplants. Most houseplants are tropical plants that are used to staying 65-75 degrees F during the day and no more than 10 degrees F cooler than that at night, so think twice before you let your home cool off.
3. Try to avoid placing plants in drafty areas. After hearing the above tips you might think you're hedging your bets by putting your plants directly under a heat vent, but this can actually be just as damaging. Most indoor plants don't like drafts and while being under a cooling fan may come to mind first when you hear "draft", this applies to heated air too. Keep plants away from vents, heaters, and fireplaces! The trick to keeping your houseplants happy in winter is to keep them warm in as stable of conditions as possible, no matter what the weather outside has to throw at us.
