🚨 “My sprinklers stopped working.”

That was the only complaint.

After a little investigating, we found the problem… a broken underground sprinkler line that had enough pressure to send water up through the inside of a hollow chain-link fence post. 🤯

You never know where an irrigation leak will show itself.

If your sprinklers suddenly stop working, don’t assume it’s just the controller. Sometimes the real problem is hiding underground.

Spot the red flags! 🚩👀 If your irrigation setup looks like this underground maze, you might be sitting on a major liability.
While it might look like a standard valve box at first glance, a closer look reveals a handful of corner-cutting mistakes that could cost thousands down the road:
❌ No Master Valve: Without a master valve at the start of the system, all of this plumbing is under constant, maximum pressure. If one of these fittings cracks or a valve fails, you’ll have an underground geyser running non-stop until someone physically shuts off the main water line.
❌ No Backflow Preventer: This is the big one. Without proper backflow prevention, dirty, stagnant yard water (think fertilizer, pesticides, and pet waste) can actually siphon backward into your home’s clean drinking water supply. It’s a massive health hazard and a violation of local plumbing codes.
❌ Poly Pipe Under Static Pressure: Polyethylene (poly) pipe is great for lateral lines that only see water when a zone is running, but using it for the main manifold under constant static pressure is a ticking time bomb.
❌ Improper Fittings: From mismatched connections to over-torqued hose clamps on parts that should be securely threaded or glued, this manifold is practically begging for a high-pressure blowout.
A cheap install today usually means an expensive emergency repair tomorrow. Do it right, keep your drinking water safe, and protect your lawn from a total washout! 🛠️💦
