We are so excited to announce our first ever North Monroe CAMERA CRAWL! 🤩📸

Bring your own unique perspective to capturing the spirit of the North Monroe Business District - and enjoy some local treats, door prizes & your chance at Judged Awards, too! 🥇🥈🥉

Join us 9/4 for the meet-up at r&r custom color lab between 5-5:30 as we celebrate their 50 years in business! Indulge in some freebies at registration, then we head out to start the Crawl!
Pick your team - Northbound to the Emerson-Garfield Farmers' Market, or Southbound to Four-Eyed Guys Brewing Co. - The first 30 participants will receive a $5 treat token for their destination!

Snap pics that catch your eye along the way, then after the event, upload your three favorite images from the crawl for your chance to WIN! The NMBD will gratefully use submitted photos to help share the story of our unique district -THANK YOU!

R&R is donating enlargements for our Top 3 images - We'll do 3 Judge's Choice awards:
1-16x20 canvas board
1-16x20 metal
1-16x20 fine art print

Additionally, random participants will receive $50 gift cards to R&R in honor of their Anniversary! 🎉

What a weekend! 🧡 We are so grateful for the blue skies, the time with neighbors & friends, and the chance to celebrate summer in Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood by swing dancing with Rockabilly Space Force! The North Monroe Business District was a proud sponsor of the concert along with our friends at Spokane City Credit Union (SCCU)! Sunglasses, district maps, and farmers' market fliers were handed out to many - along with SCCU tennis balls & bandanas for the pups! 😎🎉🐶🐾

Our glorious new banners are getting installed THIS WEEK! 🤩 The third summer design is by the awesome Hannah Walker, who has become an integral creative partner for the district on some very exciting work, speaking our language of energetic quirk with stellar talent!

"I chose to focus on its history with vintage transportation and architecture in addition to an other-worldly twist. You will see references to classic cars and trolley system of the past, reminding residents and visitors of an older aesthetic in addition to nods towards Monroe’s affinity for unique humor and quirk. Standing alongside historical vehicles, we have classic buildings like the Carnegie Library and the Spokane Public Radio. 📡🛸
..👽 Perhaps the airwaves from the radio station are a beacon to visitors near and cosmically far, calling folks to visit North Monroe and experience the community and eclecticism of this awesome neighborhood." - Hannah 🎨

Meet Trudie, a fabulous, feathered, and funky neighbor along Emerson Park! 🦜 Her humans say she loves to dance and is always bobbing her head when the live music gets going at the Emerson-Garfield Farmers' Market. Watch her get down to the sultry sounds of Two Jazz Guys and join us Fridays this summer for more groovy tunes! 🎶

Next up in our banner artist shout-out is the amazing illustrative graphic designer & recent muralist of an 80+ feet wall on Gonzaga University’s campus! - Annie Berry!!! 🍓

"My design was inspired by the sense of movement, joy, and connection that makes the North Monroe Business District so special. I wanted to capture the organic elements of Monroe Street (blossoming trees, plants, people, and pets) flowing together with the geometric elements like the brick buildings and public transportation. 🍃🚎 🧱

I believe small businesses are the heart of Spokane, so I’m especially grateful to be part of a project that celebrates and uplifts the local community!" - Annie 🎨
