It looks like fall is just around the corner. We are going to start seeing a dip in temps and maybe even some rain this week. This means you can probably start to decrease your watering, but DO NOT stop watering! While precipitation is still low and your lawn is working to recover from the summer, you should still be watering regularly!
Here are our late summer/ early fall watering recommendations based on temperature:
~78º - 86º: water 4-6 times a week;
~70º - 78º: water 3-4 times a week;
~65º - 70º: water 2-4 times a week.
And always make sure to check in with your lawn regularly! If you know what to look for, it will tell you how much water it needs! Lots of lawns are still trying to recover from drought stress and summer heat and may need more water, while others may be getting overwatered with the temp change. If your lawn is looking or feeling dry and brittle and hasn't quite greened back up, stay on the higher end of our recommendations even if that means you need to increase your watering a bit. If your lawn is staying soggy into the afternoon, you can shorten the length of your watering sessions or decrease your watering sessions by one. Make sure to keep watering changes small and gradual, and check in with your lawn after each change!
Once the fall rains start, we will give you tips on how to make the most of fall rains and adjust your watering schedule accordingly.
