We are not cat people. But we may make an acceptation. “Pickles”, who most likely got lost/separated from a recent litter of alley cats, has quickly warmed up to her plush accommodations. I think Godfrey Grove has a cat now 🐈😆

Make an outdoor wash station for cheap! Everything I used was thrifted, repurposed, or found at a dollar store 😆💰 Look for cheap or free old utility sinks or plastic elevated raised beds. OR, you can even cut a hole in a thrifted patio table to fit a plastic dollar store tub with a drain hole drilled in it.

Story time! I’ve been worrying, because the little twin Cashmere Eggers, Zipper and French Fry, are now 25 weeks old, and haven’t started laying. But when I found a “second egg” today from their slightly older flock mate Bunny, I realized something wasn’t adding up. Now, it turns out, light blue eggs with some coop dust on ‘em look a lot like light sage olive egger eggs. I still wasn’t convinced, so I went back through some cartons in the fridge and found a second tiny egg, the same size as Bunny’s first egg - and it was undeniably BLUE. Here they are next to each other. Bunny’s first egg and what I’m sure is someone else’s first little blue egg. But who? I’m quite sure one of the two is still not laying. Pleeease don’t be a rooster!

Can chickens eat tomatoes? Yes! As long as they’re ripe! Never feed green tomatoes or tomato leaves or stems to your chickens - those parts of the plant are poisonous to most animals! I love sharing our cherry tomato harvest with our hens. It’s TOO funny watching them chase these treats around the yard, chase each other, and work to split open each juicy morsel.

Nancy's Hope & Joy provides financial help and connections to survivors of domestic abuse, helping them to receive life-changing mental health care and therapy. I encourage you to follow them and share their content to help spread the word about this small organization that's making a big impact in women's lives!
