From ugly popcorn to a beautiful knockdown finish

One large room and a small hallway scrape and knockdown in Homosassa Florida. We began by masking off all of the floors and main furniture with plastic, we then run plastic and tape all away around the perimeter that will connect with the floor plastic to completely seal in any mess made during the project. We then lightly mist the popcorn ceilings with water and begin to manually scrape the popcorn off of the ceiling. After the popcorn texture is removed we then screw up the entire ceiling to reassure the ceiling drywall is securely fastened. Next tape seams are ripped out and replaced and skimmed out smooth with multiple coats. Ceiling is then wet sanded to remove edges and insure minimal dust. Ceiling was then textured with a Spanish lace or sometimes known as a knockdown finish which was aloud to dry and cure overnight before we applied an oil based primer and painted over with a flat white paint.

Small 12ft high bathroom ceiling in Springhill Florida that me and my team gave a little update to. Ceiling originally had a popcorn finish . My team completely masked off the walls and fixtures to protect them from debris from the job. We softened up the popcorn by misting with a light amount of water. We then manually scraped the popcorn. Screwed up the entire ceiling. Ripped out and replaced all team seams. Skimmed and floated all seams. Applied a knockdown finish. Primed and painted. Then cleaned up the whole job.

Sometimes the popcorn scrapes easy, sometimes you end up with this. Either way we will make the end product beautiful.
