⚠️ KIDS ARE RIDING—SLOW DOWN, STAY ALERT & SHARE THE ROAD!
With students back in school, Constable Mark Herman’s Office is reminding drivers to slow down and stay alert for children and teens riding bicycles and e-bikes throughout our neighborhoods.
🚗 Drivers: Reduce your speed in residential areas, stay off your phone, check carefully before turning or backing out of driveways, and give young riders plenty of room.
🚲 Parents and riders: Remember that not every electric bike is street legal in Texas. Legal e-bikes must have fully operable pedals, a motor of 750 watts or less, and cannot exceed 28 MPH with motor assistance.
⚠️ Electric dirt bikes and other motorized bikes that do not meet Texas e-bike requirements are not street legal and may be subject to enforcement action.
"Parents, know what your child is riding and talk with them about safe and legal riding. Drivers, slow down and expect young riders—especially before and after school. A few extra seconds behind the wheel can help prevent a tragedy." - Constable Mark Herman
