Most of us have no idea how our HVAC systems operate.

And that's fine – an HVAC system is a pretty complicated feat of engineering and physics.
But here’s something you should know if you want to save some money on repairs.
Let me introduce you to the condensate drain line.
When this little puppy gets clogged, the system will freeze up – causing a failure in operation.
All you have to do is detach the line and pour in a cup of bleach or vinegar. This quick fix can help save you lots of money down the line!
How often you will need to clean the line will depend on how well you maintain the rest of the system, as well as the efficiency of your air filters, and the overall dustiness of the air in your house.
Keep those tubes clean people!

How often should I have my HVAC system maintained?

A question not enough people are asking.

You should have your HVAC system serviced by a professional at the beginning of every cooling and heating season.

Why, you ask? Because a well maintained HVAC system can last up to 30 years!

And we all know what it feels like when it's the middle of summer and the AC isn’t working.

So if you want to avoid this major inconvenience, don't sweat it – call us and we’ll make sure your HVAC system is good to go for years to come!

Ever notice how after a couple of years in the oval office, presidents start to look a bit haggard?
Well, not Mr. Herbert Hoover…
Hoover was the first president to enjoy the cooling powers of Air Conditioning:
He spent $30,000 USD on the system just months after the Stock Market Crash of 1929, and the beginning of the Great Depression…
Suppose he wasn’t yet asking what HE could do for his country ;)
Let us know – would you have spent that much money, at that time, if you were president?

Anything worth keeping around needs some TLC from time to time.

And we all love our air conditioners, maybe more than we can know…

So here are a few tips to help keep your HVAC system maintained in between service appointments:

-Dust the area around the unit regularly
-Leave your air vents open
-Change your air filter once every 3 months
-Seal your home from any drafts

Keep your HVAC system happy and you will be breathing easy all year round!

If you love your air conditioner, and we all do – then there is one man you should thank in particular.
Willis H. Carrier built the first modern electrical air conditioning unit in 1901.
But you may be surprised why.
At the time, Sackett-Wilhelms Lithographing & Publishing Company had a serious issue on their hands. Temperature fluctuations in the printing rooms were causing their paper to expand and contract, and their drying ink to smudge.

Mr. Carrier installed his AC unit in 1902 to combat these problems, controlling the temperature and humidity of the building – et voila, their issues were solved!

More people started to catch on to the fact that these systems were pretty nifty, and, by 1914, domestic AC units began to really take off!

The rest is history :)

If you don't have your HVAC system serviced twice per year, you are at risk of having an all-out catastrophe –

You know what I'm talking about. It's the end of July, 30+ degrees outside, and then the AC stops working… !

When you have no AC, how do you stay cool during the summer?

How does air conditioning work anyways?

Certain compounds have the ability to cool the air as they evaporate.

Back in the 80’s, it was discovered that many of the chemical compounds used in air conditioning systems were destroying the ozone layer.

As you may know, this destruction allowed more deadly radiation from the sun to pe*****te our atmosphere, and harm the habitants of this planet – yes, that means you and me.

In 1989, the “Montreal Protocol” was put into effect, banning the use of a number of harmful refrigerants.

Since then we have discovered new compounds that achieve the same effect without harming our atmosphere.

How cool is that? 🧊
