Got a call from a realtor at her wit’s end. Beautiful home, priced right, motivated seller… and it would NOT sell. Every showing ended the same way — buyers walked in, caught that heavy musty smell, and walked right back out.
Here’s the kicker: somewhere along the way a renovation had sealed the crawlspace access completely shut. No hatch. No vent. No way in. Out of sight, out of mind, right?
Whatever was growing down there had been marinating in the dark for who knows how long.
So we cut a new access, dropped the ladder, and went to see what the house was hiding…
Turns out this “mansion” had a secret luxury feature the blueprints forgot to mention: a 3,000 sq ft indoor pool. 🏊
Only problem? Nobody meant to install one. đź’§
That musty smell wasn’t a mystery — it was moisture with nowhere to go and no one watching it. Seal off a crawlspace the wrong way and you don’t make the problem disappear. You just lock it in and let it grow.
