Ever walked around your house and noticed a crack in the foundation wall and thought⌠should I be worried about that?
I get this question a lot. Especially in Bella Vista, Pea Ridge, and along Beaver Lake.
Hereâs whatâs usually going on with a crack like the one in this photo â water is moving beneath the home, saturating the soil, and the ground settles just enough to open that crack. It looks scary but itâs not the foundation failing. Itâs a soil and water problem.
The fix isnât patching the crack. That does nothing. You have to control the water â get it collected, pumped out, and discharged away from the house.
Once the soil dries back out it firms up, and the crack stops moving.
If youâve got something that looks like this, donât ignore it but donât panic either. Just get eyes on it sooner than later.
