πŸ‘ƒ If your bathroom suddenly smells like sewage, don't just reach for the air freshener.

We know it's tempting.

Spray something, open the window, and hope the smell goes away.

But a persistent sewer-like smell can have a plumbing cause.

It could be related to a dry drain trap, a toilet seal, or another issue with your drainage system.

If the smell keeps coming back, it's worth finding the source rather than covering it up.

Your nose is sometimes the first thing to tell you something has changed.

And honestly, we'd rather you investigate a strange smell now than wonder about it later.

πŸ’¦ Found a leak? Don't panic. Start with the basics.

If water is actively leaking, the first thing to think about is stopping the water if you safely can.

For a fixture leak, look for the nearby shutoff valve.

For a larger plumbing problem, your home's main water shutoff may be what you need.

Then move anything nearby that could be damaged by water.

After that, call for help if you need it.

The important thing is not to spend 20 minutes trying random fixes while water keeps running.

Stop the water. Protect your home. Then figure out the repair.

Save this post. You may be glad you have it later.

πŸ’§ That dripping faucet isn't just annoying. It's a clue.

Sometimes it's easy to ignore because it's only one little drip at a time.

But a persistent drip usually means something inside the fixture isn't sealing properly.

It could be a worn washer, cartridge, O-ring, or another component depending on the faucet.

The good news?

You don't have to figure out which part it is yourself.

The first step is simply noticing that the faucet has changed.

If it didn't drip before and now it does, pay attention.

That's how good home maintenance starts.

🚰 Before you stop using that outdoor faucet for the season, give it a quick look.

Check for:

πŸ’§ Dripping when turned off
πŸ’§ Leaking around the connection
πŸ’§ Damaged handles
πŸ’§ Water pooling around the faucet

Outdoor plumbing gets exposed to the elements all year, so it's easy to overlook.

And because outdoor faucets aren't somewhere you look every day, a small leak can go unnoticed.

Take a minute to check yours this weekend.

If something doesn't look right, we're happy to help you figure out what's going on.

πŸ‚ Nashville is heading into a new season, and your plumbing deserves a quick check too.

Before cooler weather settles in, take a few minutes to walk around your home.

Check your outdoor faucets for leaks.

Look underneath sinks for moisture.

Take a quick look at your water heater.

And make sure you know where your home's main water shutoff is located.

That last one is especially important.

If a pipe ever springs a leak, knowing how to shut off the water can help limit the damage while you figure out what to do next.

A few minutes of preparation now can give you a lot more peace of mind later.

πŸ”₯ PLUMBING MYTH: β€œHot water will wash grease down the drain.”

It might help move the grease temporarily.

But that doesn't mean it disappears.

As grease travels farther through cooler sections of your plumbing, it can cool down and stick to the inside of the pipes.

Over time, that buildup can contribute to drainage problems.

So instead of relying on hot water to solve the problem:

Keep grease out of the drain in the first place.

Let it cool, put it in a container, and dispose of it properly.

Your kitchen drain will be much happier for it.

🚿 Turned on the shower and got a sad little trickle?

We've all been there.

Low water pressure can happen for several reasons.

Sometimes it's something simple, like buildup around a faucet aerator or showerhead.

But if the pressure suddenly drops throughout your entire home, that's something different.

Here's a simple first step:

Check whether the low pressure is happening at one fixture or everywhere.

If it's only one faucet, the issue may be localized.

If the entire house suddenly has low pressure, that's worth investigating further.

Knowing where the problem is happening can tell you a lot.

And if you're still scratching your head, we're happy to take a look.

πŸ”₯ Your water heater usually gives you clues before it becomes a major problem.

You might notice:

β€’ Hot water running out faster
β€’ Water temperature changing unexpectedly
β€’ Strange popping or rumbling sounds
β€’ Rust-colored water
β€’ Moisture around the tank

One symptom doesn't automatically mean you need a new water heater.

Sometimes it's a maintenance issue. Sometimes it's a repair.

The important part is not ignoring a change that wasn't there before.

Your water heater works hard every day.

A little attention can go a long way.

πŸ’§ When was the last time you actually looked underneath your kitchen sink?

Not opened the cabinet.

Actually looked.

Take 30 seconds today and check for:

βœ”οΈ Damp spots
βœ”οΈ Water stains
βœ”οΈ Corrosion around connections
βœ”οΈ Musty smells
βœ”οΈ Standing water

You don't need to be a plumber to spot that something looks different.

And if you find moisture where it shouldn't be, don't ignore it just because the leak seems small.

Small leaks have a way of becoming bigger problems when they're left alone.

Give our team a call if you're unsure what you're looking at.

🍳 Your kitchen sink can handle water. It can't handle everything.

One of the easiest ways to avoid kitchen drain problems is simply being careful about what goes down the sink.

Things like cooking grease, coffee grounds, eggshells, fibrous vegetable scraps, and large food particles can create problems inside your plumbing.

Even if they go down without a problem today, they can collect inside the pipes over time.

Instead, scrape food into the trash or compost before washing dishes.

And with grease?

Let it cool and dispose of it properly instead of pouring it down the drain.

Your future self β€” and your kitchen pipes β€” will thank you. πŸ˜„
