One thing I’m noticing in this trade is a lot of guys are scared to lose the job.

So instead of pricing the job the way it really needs to be done, they start cutting things out to make the number look better.

That might help win the job, but it doesn’t always help the customer.

When you install a new HVAC system, you’re not just swapping boxes.

You have to look at the whole system.

Is the ductwork sized right?

Is the return air big enough?

Do the ducts need sealed?

Are the grills restrictive?

Is the thermostat wire in good shape?

What does the breaker look like?

What does the disconnect look like?

What does the whip look like?

Is the pad still good?

If that stuff is 20 or 30 years old, beat up, unsafe, undersized, or causing problems, it needs to be addressed.

And yes, that costs more.

But doing it wrong costs more later.

A new furnace and AC on bad ductwork, weak return air, old electrical, and restrictive airflow is not a real system upgrade. It’s just new equipment connected to old problems.

I know not every customer will choose the higher price.

That’s okay.

You don’t need every job.

You need the right jobs.

And as contractors, we need to stop racing each other to the bottom. If more people would just tell the truth, price the job correctly, and do the work with integrity, everybody would be better off.

I believe the Lord provides when you do business the right way.

That doesn’t mean you win every bid.

It means you keep your name clean, your conscience clear, and your standards intact.

At Civive Air Services, I’m not trying to be the cheapest.

I’m trying to do it right.

Because it’s not just about the equipment.

It’s about the whole system.

Does your thermostat say 72° but one room still feels like 80°?

That usually means the thermostat is not the real problem.

Your thermostat only reads the temperature where it’s mounted. It does not know what’s happening in the bedrooms, upstairs rooms, bonus rooms, or the rooms farthest from the equipment.

So when one room is hot and the rest of the house feels okay, lowering the thermostat usually just makes the system run longer.

It may cool the main area more, but that problem room can still stay uncomfortable.

Common causes are:

Weak airflow to that room
Undersized or poorly run ductwork
Leaky ductwork in the attic or crawlspace
Not enough return air
Dirty blower wheel
Closed or restricted vents
Poor insulation or sun load on that side of the house

A hot room is usually a comfort system problem, not just a thermostat problem.

Before you keep dropping the thermostat and raising the electric bill, it’s worth finding out why that room is not getting the air it needs.

Have you been putting off getting your AC checked?

Take this as your sign.

I recently started my own HVAC company here in Springfield, Civive Air Services, and I’m trying to get the word out.

I don’t have big money behind me. I don’t have a budget for ads. I’m just starting out and trying to build this company the right way.

Some of you know my story. I’m a graduate of the Victory Mission Restoration Program, and I’m currently working at Central Assembly of God while I build this business.

Right now I’m taking on a few AC tune-ups this week.

It’s $80 in Springfield.

I’ll clean the outdoor coil, check the capacitor, inspect the contactor, check electrical connections, amps, temperature split, and make sure the system is running like it should.

A weak capacitor or bad contactor can turn into a much bigger repair if it gets ignored, especially in this heat.

If you need yours checked, call or text me.

And even if you don’t need HVAC service right now, please share this or send my number to someone who does.

I really need your help getting this going, and I’d appreciate it more than you know.
