Things I see from the roof top:

In the late 1950s and early 1960s fencing was a major niche for Colbert Roofing. Today we are primarily a roofing company, but occasionally still come across other types of work. This roof top fence was in need of repair and the posts were leaking at intersecting points of the roof surface. We removed the flat seam metal roof, prepared the substrate and covered it with primed densdeck. The fence post flashing details worked well with 60 mil adhered TPO membrane. The new vinyl fence is a nice decorative feature for this roof top.

Happy Labor Day from our crew! Some of us traded work boots for boat shoes today—soaking up sunshine and casting lines aboard the Fish Tickler with Captain Dee and the Miss Cinnamon with first mate, Nixon. The day was full of laughs, good company, and plenty of tug on the lines. Rockfish is on the menu tonight! 🎣🐟

Things I see from the roof top

We were hired to replace the shingle roof at the Poor Clare’s Monastery in Alexandria, VA. This particular order on nuns was founded in 1977. The cloistered sisters forego family life and commit their lives to prayer and poverty. They also take a vow of enclosure where they remove themselves from the outside world. Check them out! The existing covering was an early generation architectural shingle that was produced between 1987 and 2005. The organic felt paper base was prone to failure. We replaced the roof with Certainteed Landmark shingles with fiberglass matting. The large skylight over the chapel was replaced with a barrel vaulted lens that captures more natural light.

Things I see from the roof top:

The Flat Branch Pump Station is tucked in behind Splashdown Waterpark in Manassas. This facility is one of many monitoring locations for our water. The old metal roof on the maintenance building was experiencing recurring leaks and needed attention. We replaced the roof with a concealed cleat mechanically seamed 24 gauge steel structural panel. The skylights and exhaust vents were no longer needed. The finished product provides a clean look without problematic roof penetrations.

Things I see from the roof top:

This elderly customer in the Northern Neck had a chronic leak at his chimney. The old galvanized cover needed to be replaced. We were happy to install a fully soldered 24 gauge stainless steel cap. The million dollar view from the roof top was an added bonus!
