I had big plans to be productive.

Then my mom surprised me with shortbread cookies she brought back from Scotland. She’d been saving them for me because she knows they’re my favorite.

Moments like this are a great reminder to pause during busy seasons and enjoy the little things. We work hard every day, but it’s the relationships — both personal and professional — that really make it worthwhile.

Now the real question: how many cookies is it acceptable to eat during business hours?

Coming Soon to Jefferson & Primrose!

Here is a quick first look at our next project! If you’ve driven past the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Primrose Street (right across from Kickapoo High School), you know this spot well.

Construction will be kicking off here very soon! We’re sharing a look at the site's "before" condition alongside the architectural rendering of what this space will look like once it's fully built.

This project will be a brand-new, modern multi-tenant commercial building, bringing fresh options and sleek design to a high-traffic neighborhood corner.

We love taking an empty or underutilized lot and turning it into a thriving hub for local businesses. Stay tuned as they break ground and start moving dirt on this one!

We listen, we communicate, we deliver. Every time.

Jennifer Winslow as the MEP engineer,
Heithaus Engineering Inc, Teresa Davison for civil engineering,

I attended the State of the Schools Good Morning Springfield Chamber meeting which was located at Pipkin Middle School - which is a beautiful, new building. Soon the hallways will be bustling with children and teachers starting a new school year. Dr. Grenita Lathan told everyone about a new reading program called 417 Reads and asked for volunteers to read to third graders. There were several volunteers and it was good to see the community chip in to help.

If you are interested in volunteering your time to read, or want to sponsor a classroom, you can find out more information here: https://www.sps.org/p/~board/homepage-posts/post/sps-launches-417-reads-initiative

Care to Learn also informed the group of the many items they are providing for children as they get ready for school. Springfield has a big heart and I'm proud to see it.

We were thrilled to attend the ribbon cutting for the brand new Central Ozark Medical Center in Crocker, Missouri!

This building has a rich history—it originally served as a local church and later housed the County Public Health Department. Now, after a complete transformation, it’s officially open as a modern, multi-specialty clinic providing essential medical, dental, and behavioral health services all under one roof.

Repurposing an older building into a specialized healthcare facility comes with its own unique set of challenges. Heenan Construction did an absolutely stellar job bringing these plans to life.

Seeing a former neighborhood space given new purpose to bring accessible healthcare to Crocker is what community architecture is all about. We are so honored to play a part in projects that directly lift up our region and provide long-term care for local families!

We listen, we communicate, we deliver. Every time.

🎈 Happy 26th Birthday, Rare Breed!

Our team at Ireland Architects had a great time visiting Rare Breed to celebrate their 26th birthday!

As a program of The Kitchen, Inc., Rare Breed provides a critical, safe, and welcoming haven for youth experiencing homelessness right here in Springfield. It’s a place where young people can take GED classes, get hot food, do laundry, take a shower, pick up needed clothing, and find a supportive community that helps them build stability for a brighter future.

Supporting their mission is something close to our hearts—our office provides a meal for the program every month.

We strongly encourage other local businesses and individuals to get involved! Whether you donate resources, volunteer your time, or offer financial support, every bit helps these young people find their footing and thrive.

Thank you to the incredible team at Rare Breed for 26 years of selfless service to Springfield! 💙

Crystal Miller and I had a great time attending the recent Good Morning, Springfield event, hosted by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce!

The meeting was held in the same venue where local area football games are played—and they literally had the turf rolled out for the occasion! I arrived a little early to serve as a greeter, which gave me the perfect chance to capture a "before" photo and an "after" photo once the room filled up.

As always, the energy was incredible. We got to hear valuable community updates from:

Greene County, Missouri
Springfield Public Schools, Springfield, MO
Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce
City of Springfield, MO

Connecting with local leaders and staying tuned into where our region is headed is such an important part of how we serve our community. Plus, leaving with tickets to the fair was an awesome bonus to start the day! 🎟️

We listen, we communicate, we deliver. Every time.

We have some incredible news to share: Lakeland Behavioral Health System officially passed their State inspection, and everything went exceptionally well! They are cleared and ready to begin seeing patients! 🎉

As a quick reminder of what this build accomplished, we added four new beds to this specialized psychiatric hospital for children, expanding their capacity to care for young people who need it most. We also designed a large, dedicated storage area for the maintenance department—because as any facility manager knows, you can never have enough storage!

Designing spaces for adolescent psychiatric treatment requires an extra layer of discipline, safety, and compassion. It has been an absolute honor for the Ireland Architects team to partner with Lakeland Hospital on this expansion, helping four more children at a time take steps toward a life of healing.

A huge thank you to the facility leaders and construction teams who helped bring this project across the finish line!

We are thrilled to share the final photos of the completed multi-floor transformation at KC CARE Health Center on Broadway in Kansas City!

Because KC CARE provides critical medical, dental, and behavioral health services to an underserved community, closing their doors during construction wasn't an option. We designed a complex, multi-phase renovation that allowed the clinic to stay fully operational, moving floor by floor and section by section so patients never missed a beat.

From the ground up, every level got the upgrade it deserved:

The Foundation & Exterior: We excavated down to the foundation to properly waterproof and preserve the iconic north mural wall, installed a brand-new accessible front entrance ramp, and wrapped the exterior in fresh EIFS and brickwork.

First-Floor & Infrastructure Upgrades: Essential underground sanitary piping and basement service access were fully modernized, alongside brand-new first-floor corridors, and a welcoming main waiting room.

The Second-Floor Dental Suite: The final piece of the puzzle! We brought an expanded dental suite to life—complete with new operatories, custom underfloor utilities for each dental chair, dirty/sterile lab spaces, x-ray, triage, and dedicated provider areas to streamline patient flow.

Watching this building transform from a complex puzzle into a state-of-the-art facility that brings more care under one roof has been an incredible journey. A huge thank you to the construction team, the facility staff, and KC CARE for trusting us with a space that will serve the Kansas City community for decades to come.

We listen, we communicate, we deliver. Every time.

I was honored to serve as one of the judges for the 2026 Springfield Business Journal's Business Leaders of the Year!

Getting a front-row seat to review the incredible work, vision, and dedication happening across our region was both inspiring and humbling. Springfield is full of remarkable individuals who show up every single day to lift up their teams, grow our economy, and give back to the place we call home.

A huge congratulations to all of this year’s honorees!

So much is happening on-site at the Hagale Family Offices building, and the details coming together are nothing short of incredible!

Here is a quick look behind the scenes at what the crews have been up to:

The exterior stone is fully installed, and crews are currently working on grouting the joints. You can also see the final texture and color of the new stucco taking shape—starting with the underlying mesh system before finishing with that clean, modern look.

The building's silhouette is really showing off its personality now, from the grand pyramid-roof entrance to the classic "witch’s hat" turret that adds a wonderful old-world charm to the roofline.

People don't always think to look up when they walk into a room, but the vaulted and decorative ceiling details throughout this space are going to be absolute showstoppers.

My absolute favorite detail inside? A 500-year-old fireplace mantel imported from France! The level of craftsmanship required not just to build it originally, but to carefully alter and shorten it by nearly four feet so it fits perfectly into this design, is mind-blowing.

Taking a landmark structure and weaving this level of history and custom detail into it is why we love what we do. We can’t wait to show you more as we get closer to the finish line!

We listen, we communicate, we deliver. Every time.
