A Playground Built by the Community.

West Central CUSD 235 is enjoying their upgraded playground. Outdated equipment and poorly drained rubber mulch areas have been replaced with accessible play equipment, safe turf, surfacing, improved drainage, and a new concrete play area for basketball, tetherball, 4-square, and much more.

With school board members, teachers, administrators, and community members pitching in to assemble the equipment, this project represents what can happen when a community comes together.

Hey, we know those plans!

Ever wonder what goes into a library construction project? The first step is a mountain of construction documents—the blueprints and detailed instructions contractors use to turn an architect's idea into a brick-and-mortar reality.
We’ve been collecting and saving these plans ever since our big 1995 building project. Add the major 2008 addition and that’s a lot of paper.
Right now, our team is sorting through the entire collection to figure out exactly what we need to keep. By cleaning house and archiving the most critical pieces, we're ensuring we always have quick, easy access to our building's DNA for any future projects.

Springfield’s Animal Protective League hopes to erect temporary buildings at the site of its headquarters near the Illinois State Fairgrounds or move into a temporary location in the next three to six months after a June 10 tornado caused an estimated $1.2 million in damages.
