Added a pop of color to this new screened porch and deck built by in Wells, ME.
The panels were color matched a creamy yellow to the house siding, but we added Palladian Blue to the ceiling. There are several reasons why porch ceilings are often painted blue, including to ward off “evil spirits” or “haints”. That’s why many of these colors tend to be referred to as “haint blues.” The more functional reasoning is to sort of trick birds and insects into thinking the ceiling is open sky and help prevent nesting in these areas. This homeowner loved it and found the color to be soothing, as well as a great compliment to the yellow.
