Not the profile: what really matters when you choose siding.

Most St. Louis homeowners ask whether board and batten or lap siding performs better. The short answer: what’s behind the siding matters more than the profile.

Board and batten usually costs more because of battens, layout and extra blocking, and it shows seams that can be hard to match after storm damage. Lap is simpler to patch. We always inspect the sheathing, WRB and flashing before recommending a style.

Want help deciding for your house? Read the full guide on our site or book a local inspection and we’ll check what’s behind your siding and give a clear recommendation. Ready to schedule?

A new roof on a classic brick home never goes out of style.

Projects like this one are a good reminder of what a quality roof replacement can do for curb appeal and long-term protection. Brick homes in particular tend to last generations, so the roof above them needs to be built the same way. As a family-owned roofing contractor, we help homeowners choose between asphalt shingles, architectural shingles, metal, slate, and more, then install everything with the care a project like this deserves. It all starts with a free roof inspection, where we give you a straight answer on whether a roof repair makes sense or if replacement is the smarter move.

With colder weather right around the corner, it's a good time to look at:
✔ Aging or curling shingles
✔ Gutter installation and drainage before winter
✔ Any hidden damage from recent storms

If rough weather does hit, our team handles storm damage roof repair and offers 24/7 emergency roof repair, including tarping and help with your insurance paperwork.

Proudly serving homeowners throughout the Saint Louis area, from Ballwin to Saint Charles.

Start with weight, not price: tile is 8–12 lbs/sq ft, metal is 1–3 lbs/sq ft.

Most homeowners compare cost and looks first. For St. Louis houses we often ask the same first question: can your framing carry tile without reinforcement? That one answer can change the whole plan once you factor in potential engineering work.

If you plan to sell in 10–15 years, metal’s lower up-front cost and low maintenance often make more sense. If this is your forever home and the structure can handle it, tile’s longer lifespan can justify the premium.

Slate or tile is more than a style choice, it changes how you own and maintain a house.

A slate roof can last 60 to 100+ years; clay tile averages about 46.7 years. That longevity shifts the math on cost, repairs, and whether reinforcement is worth it for you. We walk homeowners through the tradeoffs specific to St. Louis roofs: slope, framing, code and insurance.

If you own your house long term, the right material looks different than if you plan to sell soon. Want us to check whether your attic, slope, and local code make slate or tile realistic? Ask a question below or book a free slate assessment with our St. Louis team.

Swapping vented soffit for solid panels is a common, costly mistake.

If your attic is a conventional vented attic, soffit is the intake that lets ridge or roof vents do their job. Solid panels belong on porches, short returns, or roofs that were intentionally converted to unvented assemblies.

We can check your attic during a free inspection and measure net free area so intake and exhaust are balanced. Want us to take a look?

Complex rooflines like this one take real skill to shingle correctly.

From above, you can spot all the valleys, angles, and transitions that make this asphalt shingle roof stand out in the neighborhood. Every one of those spots is where a rushed roofing contractor cuts corners and where leaks start years later. That's why our crews take the time to flash and seal each detail properly on every roof replacement we take on. If your home has a complicated design, a free roof inspection is the best way to know whether a targeted roof repair will hold or if it's time for a full replacement.

Late October is also prime time for leftover leaves and sudden storms around Saint Louis, Chesterfield, and Saint Charles, so it's worth checking:
✔ Shingle condition in valleys and around dormers
✔ Gutter installation quality and drainage before winter
✔ Any signs of hail or storm damage roof repair needs

Our roofing company is available 24/7 for emergency roof repair, and we help document damage for your insurance claim from start to finish.

Head to our website and book your free, no-obligation inspection before the cold settles in.

If your chimney is wider than 30 inches, the code may require a cricket.

Cricket height changes with roof pitch, permits vary across St. Louis jurisdictions, and adding a cricket during a full re-roof usually costs less than retrofitting later. We explain what the code actually requires and what to ask your contractor before work starts.

Read the full guide on our site, or message us to schedule a chimney check before your next re-roof. Want us to review your roof plan?

Don't assume 1/300 applies to your attic ventilation.

The 2021 IRC sets 1:150 as the default, and the 1/300 path is an exception with conditions. Size vents by Net Free Area, split intake and exhaust, and always confirm the local code before a reroof.

We inspect attic area, NFA ratings, intake/exhaust balance, and local permit rules so your reroof meets code and performs. Want us to check your attic before a reroof?
