I couldn’t do it.

I held punch in one hand and hammer in the other and… I couldn’t mar up that walnut.

I took it to the range with my son and we put 30 rounds through it to see how it handled. It definitely doesn’t need stippling.

So this beautiful Missouri walnut stays as it is.

This is officially the last project for my shop in 2025.

It only gets this stamp when I’m finishing up a project and proud enough of the work to put my stamp on it. (Hint: it doesn’t leave the shop without the stamp)

Just need to do the stippling and add some finish and this thing is ready to go! I’ll post a few more updates before Christmas.

End grain chisel work ASMR.

Normally I pick a fav song to go with my videos, but I just love the sounds of a sharp chisel on air-dried Missouri walnut end grain, so let’s listen to that for 60 seconds…

Working on a commission to replace the missing handle on a Walther OSP targeting pistol from 1966. It’s a present for his German octogenarian mother who still shoots on weekends. I love commissions like this.

I’ve never made a pistol handle before, so half the work is done up in my head, trying to determine the right procedures in the right order before I set tools to wood. So far the method seems to be working.

Basing the design off of a 1966 Walther OSP that came up for auction last year. I snagged a few of the high-res pics for measurements and shapes.

The original had a handle made of European walnut. Fortunately, the client said they were perfectly happy with walnut from my family farm.

Will post more progress pics as they happen.

Tucker inherited his Kong harness from my brother’s German Shepherd, Bandit, who outgrew it at 4 mos.

Today, his name badge arrived. He was so excited, he wanted me to put it on him. Then he went to the front door to go for a walk.

He is… the best dog ever. ❤️

I waited WAY too long to break that string on my set of cooking chopsticks. I should have done it years ago. I hated it. I HATES the string!

Anyway. So I broke it. Much better.

Go break something.

But don’t blame me for the consequences. Might be good. Might be bad....

Four octagonal tapered legs out of walnut, with a spare just in case.

Slowly making progress on my Irish low-back chair. Hoping there is still a patch available when I get it done, which is certainly motivation to keep at it!
