We cannot stop the past. However WE CAN STOP the FUTURE from HAPPENING. Read this entire message and you will understand. No, this is not the movie Terminator...THIS IS REAL. We had a lot of people send us this picture so we are going to share it with you. This picture was actually taken around the Jefferson and Shook area today just south of the spillway. This is just the first signs of what is to follow. "It looked like sewage and smelled like sewage" was in the caption.
HOW CAN WE STOP THE FUTURE FROM HAPPENING?
This upcoming Super Bowl Sunday we are in for a massacre on our Lake. Possibly the worst environmental disaster this area has ever seen. We MUST conserve as much water as possible starting this Friday - Sunday to give our lake a chance or there will be more sewage dumped l. We urge our Government to instal the Save Lake St. Clair SOPR (Sewage Overflow Preventive Response)....see comment section for the SOPR video.
Superbowl Sunday is the APEX for water usage. The sinkhole main line interceptor is completely blocked! Water consumption is key on this day and the days leading up to the super bowl as everything is multiplied by incredible numbers on this day. More people partying and drinking at one 4 hour period than all year. Every bar will running dishwashers like crazy trying to keep up. More going to the bathroom during this time and flushing more than ever. We NEED and MUST conserve our water starting this Friday. If you are in the affected 11 communities. Please DO NOT do laundry during these couple of days. Why? Laundry alone uses about 40 gallons of water per load. Think about 400,000 houses all doing a couple of loads during this 3 day stretch and how much could save from being sent down the pipes. We need to cut our shower time down during these couple of days. If you take 10 minute showers....try to cut it down to 5 minutes. Every gallon counts. Make sure to tell you entire family to turn the faucets off when brushing your teeth. Every gallon counts. Make sure to only flush the toilet when absolute needed. When its brown flush it down, if its yellow let it mellow. Every gallon counts. We are set up for the worst environmental disaster this area has seen so IT'S UP TO US TO PREVENT THIS. We can and come together as a community to stop this from becoming worse.
Thank you Craig Blaskowski for sending us this picture.
