New construction project — this customer needed a flat roof installed over the porch and wanted it to match the look of the home. We went with black modified bitumen and black counter flashing to keep the aesthetic clean and consistent. Flat roofs need to be done right — proper drainage, the right membrane, clean edges. When it's done correctly, it holds up and it looks good doing it.

Here's something worth knowing — most homeowners insurance policies cover hail and wind damage. But there's usually a claim window, typically 1–2 years from the date of the storm. After that window closes, you're on your own. If storms have come through in the last year or two and you never got your roof checked, now's the time — before that window shuts. Done incorrectly, chimney flashing is one of the most common sources of roof leaks.
