Designing safe, future-ready learning environments requires a deep understanding of a community's unique needs. At KAI, our commitment to educational design is reflected in our history with Arlington ISD. The district continues to set a high standard for academic achievement, recently having 15 campuses recognized among the best in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

We have had the opportunity to support this remarkable district by delivering targeted modernizations across multiple local campuses, including Wood, Foster and Mary Moore Elementary schools. By focusing on essential upgrades like STEM classroom renovations, security vestibule enhancements, and critical HVAC improvements our goal is to consistently elevate the facilities where these exceptional students and educators thrive. We look forward to continuing our work alongside districts across the DFW Metroplex to create impactful, community-centered educational spaces.

KAI is proud to have served as the MEP/FP Engineer at the JPS Health Network Medical Home Southwest Tarrant clinic in Fort Worth, TX!

This 39,000-square-foot facility brings primary care and behavioral health services together under one roof, expanding access to comprehensive, patient-centered care for the Wedgewood neighborhood and greater Southwest Tarrant County.

Key features of our engineering approach included:
✅ Six rooftop air handling units selected through detailed cost and performance comparisons
✅ Occupied/unoccupied operating modes to maximize energy savings
✅ Economizer mode to leverage outdoor air conditions for sustainability
✅ Early clash detection to keep shop drawing approvals on track

"The result is a modern, patient-centered clinic that expands access to comprehensive care while helping prevent avoidable hospitalizations." — Aleksandar Milenkov, PE, LEED AP, President of KAI Engineering

KAI knows that designing for student growth goes far beyond the classroom. We’ve seen firsthand how the right environments can shape engagement, confidence, and community.

Our work on the Dallas College Student Engagement Center at Cedar Valley Campus in Lancaster, Texas reflects a deep commitment to creating spaces where students connect, collaborate, and thrive outside traditional academic settings. From flexible gathering zones to activity-driven environments, it’s designed to support the full student experience.

That same approach carries into our K–12 athletic and fine arts projects for Dallas ISD and Fort Worth ISD, where we create dynamic spaces that foster teamwork, creativity, and personal development. These environments are where students build leadership skills, discover passions, and form lasting connections.

This is why we’re especially aligned with Texas Public School’s vision of prioritizing spaces that nurture the whole student. We bring proven expertise in designing environments that support growth, whether on the stage, on the field, or in community-centered hubs. Because the most impactful learning often happens beyond the bell.

This week, Dallas County officially marked the completion of its new Emergency Operations Center (EOC) with an official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Our team was proud to stand with Dallas County Commissioners from Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4, as well as Chief of Emergency Services, Scott Forster to celebrate the opening of this critical $26.2 million state-of-the-art facility.

With the FIFA World Cup heading our way, this 36,000 SF facility will serve as the ultimate central command hub, giving first responders, staff, and public officials the unified data infrastructure and media briefing rooms needed to keep millions of global fans and local residents safe. The new EOC marks a significant step forward for public safety and community resilience in North Texas, and represents a major advancement in how our region will manage emergency response moving forward.

To bring this high-stakes resilience to life, KAI’s Architecture & Engineering teams delivered seamless, integrated solutions. We thank Dallas County, the local community and our construction partner, Azteca-Omega Group, LLC. Together, we have delivered on a critical piece to making Dallas County a safer, more resilient place to live and work.

We are proud to celebrate the completion of the design and the groundbreaking of the new Seagoville PK-8 Campus for Dallas ISD! 🎉

Designed to serve 800 students, this innovative, nature-connected campus blends STEM learning, biophilic design and outdoor learning environments to inspire future generations. Scheduled to open in 2027, this is more than a school, it's a community investment.

“As designers, we have the privilege and responsibility of helping shape the environments where students learn, grow and discover their potential,” - Catherine Dalton, AIA, RID, LEED AP BD+C, KAI Principal and K-12 Market Leader.

The 118,000-square-foot campus will feature advanced labs, maker spaces and outdoor learning trails integrated into the surrounding post-oak reserve, creating a dynamic, hands-on educational experience that connects students directly to their environment.

At KAI Enterprises, our connection to Dallas ISD goes far beyond the design and construction services we provide. It is a foundational part of our team's story. We are incredibly proud of the Dallas ISD alumni on our team who are now dedicating their careers to shaping the next generation of educational environments in the very neighborhoods where they grew up.

For Brandon Herron, his roots at South Oak Cliff High School directly sparked his architectural journey. "My passion for serving K-12 education is rooted in my own experience as a Dallas ISD student", says Brandon. "At South Oak Cliff High School, CAD classes introduced me to architecture and gave me the opportunity to create my first technical drawings. Dallas ISD later provided an architecture internship that helped transform that early interest into a career path. Those experiences opened my eyes to the possibilities that thoughtfully designed educational spaces can create for students and communities."

Tania Lecona, whose educational foundation was built across several beloved Dallas ISD campuses including the Marvin E. Robinson School of Business & Management at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview, and Bryan Adams High School, shares her vision for the future of learning:

"I am passionate about creating inspiring, high-performing educational environments that support learning, foster community, and help students, educators, and institutions thrive. The work we have done on education projects is driven by a commitment to thoughtful design, collaboration, and lasting impact."

Today, it is a full-circle moment to see our team members bringing their lived experiences to KAI's transformational projects. Our team's firsthand experience as Dallas ISD students fuels our firm's enduring commitment to the district and its campuses.

KAI approaches K–12 projects with a strategic, campus-wide mindset designed to perform in the most complex environments. At Seagoville PK–8, we partnered with Dallas ISD to integrate a new school within an active multi-school campus, supporting continued enrollment demand while aligning operations, strengthening security, and creating a cohesive experience across grade levels.

Through thoughtful master planning, we balanced growth with environmental stewardship, preserved natural assets, and created a flexible framework that can adapt over time. Shaped through community engagement, the campus reflects local priorities while supporting strong outcomes early in students’ educational journey and delivering clarity, efficiency, and long-term value for districts and the communities they serve.
