We love it when a plan (errr, a courtyard!) starts to come together! After all the demo and subgrade and prep, a magical thing happens when trees and finished surfaces emerge… all of a sudden things start to look a lot like the renderings! Shout out to all the parts of a landscape we cannot see below the surface - that’s where the real work is done!

Trees put the green in the greenways! Yesterday, several of our folx headed out to tag about 150 of the 389 trees needed for 3 different Great Rivers Greenway projects going in this summer and fall. Look for these beauties along the Brickline Greenway North Connector, Hodiamont Greenway in Gwen Giles Park, and Deer Creek Greenway in Oxford Bend Park! Tagging trees in the field ensures that each tree has the desired form and characteristics for specific spots along the Greenway and that trees delivered to the site are in alignment with the design goals set forth in the project process. Plus, we got to try out our new DTLS Landscape Architecture hats and share insights from our arborist partners!

We are currently seeking a talented landscape architecture candidate to join our team. At DTLS, you can expect exposure to a wide variety of project types, including civic, institutional, corporate, health care, residential, and parks. You will be engaged in all phases of a project, from marketing to construction administration, and have the opportunity to observe and participate in the day-to-day operational aspects of a small business. We require enthusiasm, passion, production and a desire to create meaningful places and experiences. We are particularly interested in candidates with the potential to enrich our firm’s diversity of thought, background, experience, and point of view.

Familiarity with our company’s culture and a willingness to jump in, ask questions, and reach out frequently are a plus in this environment. Resilience is a word that has taken a prominent place in the lexicon of our work. We strive to design places that are able to adapt to our rapidly changing environmental, social, and economic conditions. This approach also applies to our team and our company.

From unearthed streetcar lines to hints of a finished streetscape, the construction review phase is always exciting! On the Brickline Greenway North Connector along the historic North Grand Corridor demolition has turned to formwork, subgrade and pavements… and is heading quickly toward community gathering spaces and improved connections. Watch it grow🌱 and go visit the businesses along North Grand - they are open during construction!
