One long, hot week ahead, St. Louis. 🥵

Highs near 100 today through Friday, and the overnight lows sit in the mid 70s. That is five straight days with almost no break for your AC, and not much of one for you either.

A few things that actually help:

🌡️ Pick a temperature and leave it there. Setting the thermostat to 65 does not cool the house any faster, it just runs the system longer.
🪟 Close the blinds on the sunny side of the house through the afternoon.
🌀 Ceiling fans counterclockwise, and off in empty rooms. Fans cool people, not rooms.
🔁 If you have not swapped your filter since June, this is the week.
💧 Water early or late, and check on the older folks, the kids and the pets.

If your system starts struggling, do not tough it out. Call or text us at (314) 845-1929 and we will get you on the schedule.

Stay safe out there, St. Louis. 💙

Every St. Louis home has one. The room that never cools right. 🥵

Sun room. Finished basement. Bonus room over the garage. Upper-floor master that bakes in the afternoon.

Most of the time, the central system was sized for the original footprint. The new room got added later and the ductwork never quite caught up.

The fix is a ductless mini-split. One outdoor unit, one (or more) indoor head, no ductwork required. It cools the problem room independently of the rest of the house, runs on its own thermostat, and uses about a third of the energy of a window unit.

We install them all the time. Estimates are free.

Your air conditioner has run almost nonstop since June. 🥵 That's thousands of hours in one of the hardest summers we've had. Before fall, it's worth watching for signs it's worn out:

Warm air, or air that's just not as cold as it used to be
Longer run times to hit the same temperature
New sounds, smells, or short-cycling (turning on and off rapidly)
A creeping electric bill for the same comfort
Ice or moisture on the unit

None of these mean panic. They mean 'get it checked before the next heat wave, not during one.' A late-summer tune-up catches small issues while they're still small, and while we're not slammed with no-cool emergencies.

Today is National Senior Citizens Day, and in an August like this one, it's the perfect reminder. 🧡

Older adults are among the most vulnerable to extreme heat. Their bodies regulate temperature less efficiently, and many won't mention it when their home is too warm or their AC isn't keeping up.

If you have an older parent, grandparent, or neighbor:

Check that their AC is actually cooling, not just running.
Make sure they're drinking water, even when they don't feel thirsty.
Watch for confusion, dizziness, or flushed, dry skin, all signs of heat trouble.

A five-minute check-in can matter more than you'd think this time of year. And if their system needs help, we'll take care of them like family. (314) 845-1929.

When your AC quits in extreme heat, this is the kind of call we live for. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Our A/C quit cooling during a period of extreme heat and we had to call for help on July 4th. Mike came out and promptly diagnosed the problem and solved the issue in less than an hour. He was super nice, especially for working on a holiday."
— Shirley M., Google Review

Extreme heat doesn't wait for business hours, and neither do we. Thank you, Shirley, for trusting us (10 years and counting). 🧡

School's back, which means germ season is right behind it. 🎒 Here's an easy home-defense move most people forget: change your air filter.

Every time your AC runs, it pulls your home's air through that filter. A fresh one traps more of the dust, pollen, dander, and airborne particles that get passed around when everyone's back in close quarters. A clogged one just lets it recirculate.

Two-minute back-to-school checklist:

Swap the filter (every 30 days in a hard-running summer).
If allergies or illness run through your house often, ask us about a higher-MERV filter or an air purifier.
Book a tune-up so the whole system, not just the filter, is moving clean air.

Healthier air for the school year starts at the filter. meyerair.com/?spdirect=y0fvjgb01u or call/text (314) 845-1929.

This is the stretch of summer that's hard on everyone, people, pets, and AC units alike. 🥵 A few reminders to keep your household safe:

For your family:
Know the signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, nausea, heavy sweating, a rapid pulse. Get cool and hydrate fast.
Never leave kids or pets in a parked car, even for a minute. Interiors hit deadly temps in the time it takes to run one errand.
Check on older neighbors and anyone without reliable AC.

For your pets:
Walk them early morning or after sunset. Hot pavement burns paws.
Fresh water and shade, always.

For your AC:
Give the outdoor unit 2 feet of clearance and keep it clear of grass and debris so it can keep up.

Stay cool and look out for each other, St. Louis. 🧡 If your system's struggling in this heat, we're here: (314) 845-1929.

St. Louis, be honest. 🥵 It's peak August. What's your survival strategy?

a) Thermostat cranked, bill be damned
b) Blackout curtains + fans in every window
c) 'I just live in the basement now'
d) Escaped to the pool and haven't come back

Drop your letter in the comments. 👇 (And if your real answer is 'my AC can't keep up,' that's the one we can actually fix: (314) 845-1929.)

Girl math: $15/mo isn't a bill, it's a front-of-the-line pass. ☎️

When a heat wave takes out half the city's AC units at once, there are two kinds of calls we get. ☎️

The first: "My AC is down, can you come today?" We help as fast as we can, but in a true heat wave, there is a line.

The second: our Comfort Club members. They go to the front of it.

That is the quiet superpower of membership. When everyone is scrambling, members get priority scheduling, plus:
- 1 to 2 maintenance visits a year (so things break down less in the first place)
- 10 to 25% off repairs and after-hours fees
- Up to a 3-year warranty on repairs
- A transferable agreement that adds value if you sell

Plans start at $15/mo. The math usually works after a single priority call in peak season.
