Sometimes I still can’t believe I get to make a living building awesome things like this for great customers.

This rolling library ladder for a customer’s pantry was so much fun to build. The ash is material I processed from trees on the farm. Van D**e Restorers hardware was superb, and their clear instructions made installation a breeze. Of course now I’m trying to find places in my own house to put one🤣

This has definitely been the hardest winter we’ve faced yet in the shop.

The snow storm that came through a few weeks…months…years? ago brought us to a standstill for delivering orders. Typically Kentucky snow sticks around for a few days, melts away, then we go on with business as usual. Not this storm. I think I’ve forgotten what this place looks like with bare ground.

Between not being able to come and go from the shop, and having to cut firewood every single morning to keep the shop warm enough to work in, it has been stressful. We’re truly grateful for our customers who have shown monumental patience as we all get through this frozen mess. It’s gonna be 62° on Tuesday guys 🎉

Of course we kept moving along as fast as the weather would allow. A set of HUGE bookcases for , two walnut dining table table tops for , another run of Eclipse bases, and a desk/vanity combo that I’ve been working on for our daughters room.

Tuesday the snow will be all but gone, business and life can get back to normal. We have a pretty substantial remodeling project planned for the shop in the coming weeks that will boost our efficiency tenfold. More about that later😁

In a house full of people with sensory issues, the Roomba didn’t last very long. It’s loud, bumps into everything, and would get stuck and be lost for weeks at a time.

So Rosie got a new home in the spray booth and I honestly can’t emphasize how essential this thing has become.

Fine sawdust finds its way into every nook and cranny of a shop, even with all the filters in the world. Dust from overspray and fine sawdust are the bane of any spray booth operator, and no amount of sweeping will get it completely contained. Rosie solves that problem for us though, which is why she’s won the employee of the month for the past 5 years.

If you use a spray booth, do yourself a favor and get a robot vacuum. Trust me. You can used ones on FB marketplace for $100 or less.

That’s a wrap on the lattice screen project!

This was one of those rare projects that combined all of the very best elements into one. A delightful client that is both understanding and decisive, amazing design that fits perfectly within its surroundings, and the opportunity to learn new skills with a new material.

This was the first major job we have worked on using pvc, and while it definitely presented its own set of challenges, learning how to overcome those hurdles and shape the material into the client’s vision was a welcome mission.

Thank you so much to for trusting us with his fabulous design for this space. We look forward to working with you more in the future!

So incredibly close to wrapping up these lattice panels!

Priming the last 3 pieces today, then will do the final sanding, 2 coats of paint, then off to the install!

This job has been amazing, with plenty of lessons learned and skills honed. Can’t wait to see them in place!

I can’t believe I ever thought wood glue ups were stressful🤣

Titebond 3 has an open working time of about 15 minutes.
The slowest setting solvent weld pvc glue I can find has an open working time of 3 minutes.😅

Finishing up these amazing lattice panels designed by this week. Should be in the spray booth and out the door before long!
