CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR
JOB SUMMARY
Maxwell Trucking and Excavating, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Construction Estimator in our State
College office. We are a growing company with over 20 years experience in the residential, commercial, and industrial construction business. The candidate will report to the Division Manager and be responsible for estimating and project management of small, medium, and large size jobs. The candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills, great math and analytical skills, very high attention to detail, and superior integrity.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Seek out projects and opportunities and review with Division Manager.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and job conferences.
• Review all bid documents, plans and specifications.
• Complete accurate takeoff from design plans and bid specifications, then determine quantities and calculate pricing for all required work on each project assigned.
• Solicit, receive, and utilize subcontractor bids.
• Create and submit proposals for public and private projects according to bid documents.
• Communicate and interact with all clients, regulatory agencies, vendors, job foremen, superintendent, division manager, and essential personnel to perform the tasks assigned.
• Prepare budgets, job scopes and project schedules.
• Work closely with management to ensure appropriate projects are secured to meet company goals and work schedules.
• Process all paperwork associated with this position, including invoices, purchase orders, delivery or packing slips, etc.
• Track project performance and assist with project management to help ensure jobs are completed correctly and with the intended profitability.
• Participate in project close-out meetings to analyze performance and profitability.
• Provide estimates for all project change orders and assist in processing the paperwork.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• Ability to visit project sites frequently and navigate tough terrain and varying weather conditions.
• Availability to work extended hours to meet bid deadlines or business plan objectives.
• Availability to attend offsite training courses or travel to review project sites.
• Experienced and proficient with earthwork takeoff software.
• Experienced and proficient with estimating software.
• Strong computer skills are a must along with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and all project documents.
• 5 years of experience in the construction industry performing similar tasks preferred.
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred (Engineering, Construction Technology, etc).
• Must have valid driver's license.
