Every site comes with its own challenges — and every project requires the right solution.

At this location, predominantly sandy soils made it difficult to source the low permeability clay required for landfill applications. Because the site was clay poor, the owner elected to incorporate a geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) into the system design to help achieve performance requirements.

It’s a great example of how geosynthetics can provide practical, dependable solutions when site conditions don’t cooperate.

Steep slopes require more than skill, they require preparation.

Before our crew began installing this geomembrane liner on a 1.6:1 slope, they completed training on slope fall protection systems designed specifically for steep-slope work.

Working on a slick incline means even one slip could turn into an uncontrolled slide. That’s why our team is tied into a vertical lifeline system anchored at the top of the slope. Using rope grab devices connected to their harnesses, crew members can move safely while staying protected. If a slip occurs, the system locks instantly to arrest the fall.

When the forecast calls for 5 days of rain, you have to move fast to protect the site. Here, the entire team is working in overdrive to get the subgrade ready ahead of deployment.

Thanks to an incredible collaborative effort, the contractor prepped 6 acres of subgrade, and our crew knocked it out of the park—installing the GCL and 60 mil HDPE just in time to protect the work.

You can't control the weather, but a great team with a solid plan can beat the clock every time. Proud of this crew for keeping the schedule moving!

While 60mil HDPE geomembrane is a staple in landfill and coal ash cell construction, its role in water and wastewater containment is just as critical.

Our crew is currently on-site in South Carolina installing a three-layer geosynthetic system within a wastewater treatment lagoon. Built from the ground up for performance, the system includes:
• Varicore Multi-Flow venting layer for gas management
• Cushion geotextile to protect against subgrade imperfections
• 60mil HDPE geomembrane for long-term, reliable containment

Cleaning geomembrane seams before welding is a non-negotiable step that ensures the integrity of the containment system. Contaminants like dust, dirt, and moisture can significantly weaken the weld leading to inadequate seam strength. Proper preparation, including cleaning both sheets along the entire overlap, is just as essential as proper wedge set up.
