✅ 5 Things to Inspect After Winter (even a mild one)

We didn’t have heavy accumulation this year, but winter still brings temperature swings, moisture, and wear. Here’s what we recommend checking now:

Drainage paths: Culverts, swales, and low spots where water is pooling or cutting channels

Windows + doors: Failed caulk, gaps, and early signs of water intrusion

Decks + railings: Loose posts, wobbly rails, soft spots, or fasteners backing out

Siding + trim: Cracking, swelling, staining, or areas where moisture may be getting behind the exterior

Asphalt + concrete: New cracks, trip edges, settlement, and early pothole starts

Water damage usually starts at the “small stuff,” not the big stuff.

Most window leaks come from failed or missing:

Sealant (caulk)

Flashing

Proper transitions where materials meet

A quality sealant system is designed to stay flexible as buildings move with temperature swings. When it fails, water gets behind siding and the damage stays hidden until it’s not.

If you’re seeing staining, soft trim, bubbling paint, or warped siding around windows, it’s worth investigating early.

Yikes 😬 This is what we uncovered behind the siding from a leaking window — rotten framing, saturated insulation, and a whole lot of hidden water damage.

Small leaks rarely stay small. If you’re seeing staining around windows, peeling paint, or soft spots in siding, it’s worth looking deeper before it turns into a major repair.
