What a great nursery. Worth a trip just for it's uniqueness. It's well stocked, healthy plants, knowledgeable staff, and clean.

Oak Wilt, Heat and Thunderstorms
I was injecting fungicide into a stand of live oaks on a hill. The morning started out tolerably warm but it was noon and my shirt was soaked. I was preparing the next tree and noticed that the last one I had set injectors into had slowed the uptake noticeably. A few thunderstorms were popping up but my hilltop was in the sun. Then clouds moved in, rumbled and started to rain. I was nearly done and chose to ignore the whole oak tree - lightning - hilltop thing. I set the last injector and found some cover. I checked the trees in 10 minutes hoping they had taken up at least a quarter of the fungicide. Both sets of injectors were finished. The trees had started to transpire in the short time that the storm took to cool the air and raise humidity. Trees are just plain fascinating!

This tree is declining as evidenced by the thin canopy. Owners noticed thinning leaves several years after home construction. There is no sign of oak wilt, likely culprit: buried root flare.

Imagine life in this house without the trees. Placing a value on a tree is difficult - they are priceless.
