It was turning out to be a tough day… trimming a deep, never-ending anise hedge. When all of a sudden I bumped a branch behind me and down fell a flower! I stopped for a moment to enjoy a simple pleasure of life…a beautiful flower from a Magnolia tree. It reminded me that even when a day is tough there is always joy to be found in some of the simplest things!

Went to estimate large project on a 5 acre property yesterday… homeowners was showing me around and seemingly out of nowhere we ran into this large black rat snake! 😲 he just missed stepping on him. Rat snakes are known to freeze and kink their bodies when startled as you can see in the photo. They are not normally aggressive and some people choose to leave them be in their natural environment to keep rodents under control. He’s a big fella!

40 inch wood planters with Vincas! We think Vincas come close to a perfect container flower. They like the sun and like the soil to dry out a little between watering 💦 which can make them easier to maintain. They also last several days as cut flowers. We planted these for an HOA community we service. The first one did really well so we’re adding 2 more!

Nature Moment…very calming for me to burn 🔥 wood 🪵 even in the warmer temperatures! Very relaxing and soothing. This is wood from a Cedar we cut down last year. Part of it had fallen on a house and it was slowly rotting so the homeowner had us take it down. I find it amazing that years ago wood was an even greater commodity as there was no natural gas utility. It was used to cook and to keep warm. I wasn’t alive when wood was the only option, but whenever we sit around the fire it seems to take me back to some distant time!
