A long time customer of ours had went out of town for a few days resulting it not being able to add water to her steam boiler as she usually does. The safety device called a fusible plug did its job. With no water in the boiler the lead inside the plug melted and put out the flame. We cleaned it up, poured some new lead into it and they’re back with heat and most importantly a working safety device. You can not just plug that with a standard plug and these Fusible plugs are not sold local anymore. We told her start planning for 2 steam boilers!

❄️🧊❄️🧊❄️🧊❄️🧊❄️ A quick reminder for this upcoming cold snap! 1️⃣Turn on your heat in ALL ZONES ! Don’t forget about that spare room that has its own thermostat. The high winds & low temps can cause a zone of heat to freeze if it is off.
2️⃣ Turn your heat on a little higher than usual. Spending a little more on energy to heat the home can save you thousands in frozen/ broken pipes.
3️⃣Open up all doors in your home to let the heat travel to the colder spots. You may also want to open kitchen cabinets if your sink is on an outside wall. STAY WARM 🔥🔥
